However, a beastmaster’s minions get stronger and stronger as they level up. Also, it doesn’t seem worth it to dip three levels into a beastmaster to get a minion that can die in one turn. For this reason, beastmasters are unlikely to build more than a few levels of another class to get their benefit.
Let’s look at the multi-class hunter first. I like the five-level hunter and the seven-level nature cleric. This allows you to get extra attack from the ranger and whatever you want from the Hordebreaker or Colossus Slayer.
You also get access to the level 2 spells for the ranger and the level 4 cleric spells that use wisdom. The game has a ton of spell slots. So you can attack with your wisdom modifier and engage in melee. You get the skills of animal manipulation and nature survival.
